As always there is an endless lineup of new tv programs, be it cable tv or regular old-fashioned broadcast. This year is no different. Some of the more promising shows are:

Boss

Starz (cable) premieres Friday August 17, 2012
Starring: Kelsey Grammer, Connie Nielsen, Kathleen Robertson, Hannah Ware, Jeff Hephner, Martin Donovan, Francis Guinan, Rotimi Akinosho, Troy Garity

Kelsey Grammer stars as the corrupt mayor of Chicago. What I have seen in previews looks good and centers around Fraiser and his subbortants, his family and fellow politicians.  Sex, violence and apparently murder loom in the first season. Grammer plays Mayor Tom Kane, a man of political power and prestige who is not afraid to look the other way so as that he can get the job done his way.

Revolution

Mondays this fall on NBC

A world plunged into darkness due to an unknown series of events, nothing new for the likes of JJ Abrams creator of Lost, Alias and Fringe and Supernatural creator EricKripke and directed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau. The premise follows a family beginning in 2012 when some kind of natural or man-made folly occurs causing every form of energy to cease working.  Everything from batteries, car engines, airplane turbines, you name it.  A new dark age.

Fast-forward 15 years, the show centers on Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos), a young woman who is on a mission to find her uncle (played by Twilight actor Billy Burke) after the local militia kills her father and kidnaps her brother.
