David Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus was found dead in his Richmond Va, home Monday morning by Virginia Police.
“At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Sunday, Richmond Police were called to a residence in the 4800 block of West Seminary Avenue for a report of a deceased individual,” a police spokesperson said in a statement. “When officers arrived, they found David M. Brockie, 50, deceased inside the home.”
“Detectives do not suspect foul play at this time,” the spokesperson added.
Gwar is known for its outlandish costumes and stage shows where they even invite fans onstage to be devoured by gigantic creations like carnivorous vagina worms from space. The band had just returned from its first tour in over 2 years from Japan and was celebrating its 30th anniversary. Unfortunetly Brockie is not the first member of Gwar to die suddenly. In 2011, the lead guitarist Cory Smoot aka ‘Flattus Maximus’ was found dead on the bands tour bus and the cause of death was coronary artery disease.
Dave Brockie was 50.
